DAV, Galaxy, and Mokshada Schools Kick Off with Victories in U-16 Jaykumar Nath Shah Memorial Cricket Tournament

Kathmandu, 19 Jestha — In the third edition of the Asian E-Learning ‘Jaykumar Nath Shah Memorial’ U-16 Inter-School Cricket Tournament, DAV Sushil Kedia Vishv Bharati School, Galaxy Public School, and Mokshada School secured winning starts.

At the Upper Mulpani Cricket Ground, DAV defeated Nexus International School by a commanding 193-run margin.

Chasing a challenging target of 242 runs, Nexus was bowled out for 48 runs in 12.4 overs. Shivam Shah top-scored with an unbeaten 11 runs, while the rest of the batsmen failed to make notable contributions.

In DAV’s victory, Keshav Agrawal and Tanish Shah took three wickets each, Kunjun Acharya claimed two wickets, while Kamal Shahi and Prasiddha Jaishi accounted for one wicket each.

Earlier, winning the toss and opting to bat first, DAV posted a massive 241 runs for 2 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Kamal Shahi remained unbeaten on 99 runs off 48 balls, hitting 11 fours and 3 sixes. Arush Jha scored 56 runs, while captain Prasiddha Jaishi played an aggressive innings of 40 runs off 20 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes.

Meanwhile, at the Lower Mulpani Cricket Ground, Galaxy Public School defeated Himalayan Whitehouse IB World School by 90 runs.

Chasing a target of 144 runs set by Galaxy, Whitehouse was bundled out for 53 runs in 16.1 overs. Prashann Jaishi scored the highest for Whitehouse with 11 runs, but no other batsman reached double figures.

For Galaxy, Mingma Tamang took three wickets while Swikrit Rizal claimed two.

Galaxy, having won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 143 runs for 6 wickets in their 20 overs. The captain, Swikrit Rizal, was the top scorer with 33 runs off 40 balls, including three fours. Khusbendra Sah contributed 27 runs, followed by Mingma Tamang with 20 and Adwoy Gharti Magar with 19 runs.

Vaibhav Narayan Sah remained unbeaten on 15 runs, and Smile Linkha was not out with 1 run. Galaxy also benefited from 27 extra runs.

For Whitehouse, Madhur Pokharel took 2 wickets conceding 12 runs in 3 overs, while Ayush Shahi, Prashann Jaishi, Roman Adhikari, and Daichi Khadka shared one wicket each.

Similarly, at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Mokshada School overwhelmed Wisdom English Academy by 123 runs, powered by Gautam Kumar Patel’s lethal bowling.

Winning the toss and batting first, Mokshada posted 164 runs for 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Sanshray Shrestha played a half-century innings with 56 runs, while Aaron Giri contributed 36. Yamuna KC scored 17 and Chandan Kumar Beldar Chauhan remained unbeaten on 12 runs.

For Wisdom Academy, Subash Kunwar took 2 wickets and Saurabh Adhikari claimed 1 wicket.

Chasing 165 runs, Wisdom was bowled out for 41 runs in just 9.4 overs. Simon Lamsal Chhetri was the only batsman to score runs with an unbeaten 7.

Gautam Kumar Patel starred in Mokshada’s win by taking 7 wickets for just 4 runs in 4 overs. Sougat Century, Yamuna KC, and Suyogya Shah took one wicket each.

This victory earned Mokshada School 2 points in Group ‘E’, strengthening their chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals.
