June 6, Kathmandu – Nepal’s Bagh Bhairav Dojo secured the team championship at the 18th Indo–Nepal Open Karate Tournament held on Saturday. The dojo showcased an outstanding performance by winning 7 golds, 3 silvers, and 2 bronze medals overall.
The competition, hosted at Texas International College in Mitrapark, witnessed India claiming second place with 6 gold, 7 silver, and 23 bronze medals. Nepal’s Thala Dojo ranked third, obtaining 4 golds and 1 bronze medal.
The event, held under the technical support of the Nepal Goju-Kai Karate-Do Association, awarded the best male player title to Roshan Khatri from Araniko Dojo and the best female player to Ayushma Magar from Children Model Secondary School.
The winners were honored during the ceremony by Kathmandu Metropolitan City spokesperson and Ward 17 chief, Naveen Manandhar, along with Bhesraj Pokharel, Executive Chairman of Texas International College. Additionally, Ward 7 Chair Vimal Kumar Hoda and social activist Sunil Shahi received recognition.

The tournament lasted for two days and featured 254 competitors across 22 categories, including 232 players from Nepal and 22 from India, according to Indra Bahadur Shahi Khadge, the tournament coordinator and General Secretary of Nepal Goju-Kai Karate-Do Association.
