International Conference ‘Bodhi Dialogue’ Focused on Economy and Geopolitics to be Held in Kathmandu

June 9, Kathmandu – An international conference centered on the economy and geopolitics, titled ‘Bodhi Dialogue,’ is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu next week. The Center for Social Innovation and Foreign Policy (SESIF) will host this four-day event from Tuesday to Friday.
The conference will foster in-depth discussions among Nepali and international experts on Nepal’s economic development prospects and China’s role amid the rapidly changing geopolitical landscape in South Asia, SESIF Chairman and former Ambassador Vijaykant Karn informed. A total of 16 scholars from abroad are expected to participate.
During a press conference on Tuesday, SESIF stated that the ‘Bodhi Dialogue’ aims to serve as a shared platform for serious and insightful debates on economic, political, and geopolitical transformations. The organizers emphasized the necessity for profound discourse on the meaning, impact, and potential directions of such rapidly evolving issues as global power balances, technology, and international relations.
The four-day conference will feature sessions focusing on “Nepal’s Economic Development Prospects” on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by discussions on “Geopolitical Changes in South Asia and China’s Role” on Thursday and Friday.
The economic development sessions will address topics such as good governance, transparency, investment-friendly environments, challenges faced by multinational companies, energy and infrastructure development, labor market reforms, education and skill development, digital transformation, and long-term economic prosperity strategies. The organizers plan to bring together political leaders, policymakers, economists, private sector representatives, development partners, researchers, and youth leadership on one platform to deliberate these themes.
Similarly, the sessions related to South Asia’s shifting geopolitical landscape will involve evaluating China’s growing economic, diplomatic, technological, and strategic influence. Additionally, discussions will focus on how South Asian countries can safeguard their national interests and strategic autonomy amid the evolving international power structures.
