May 28, Galkot (Baglung) – Baglung Municipality has commenced a search for encroached lands and structures. The municipal authorities have expressed concern over the illegal occupation of public lands and construction of unauthorized structures in Baglung Bazaar and other wards.

Chief Administrative Officer of Baglung Municipality, Ishwariprasad Sharma, announced a 15-day notice to remove encroachments on government and public lands.

He directed that all encroached structures and land must be vacated within the specified time frame; failure to comply will prompt the municipality to initiate demolition operations.

The municipality issued a public notice on Friday stating efforts to collect fees for protection and prevention of encroachment on government, public, and communal lands.

The municipality urged all affected parties to vacate structures erected on roads, rivers, and public lands, emphasizing that protecting such lands is the local government’s responsibility under the Muluki Civil Code, 2074, and the Local Government Operation Act, 2074.

The municipality noted that illegal encroachments, including houses, shops, and walls built on public lands at different locations, have caused problems for vehicle movement, road safety, and public asset protection, prompting the issuance of this notice.

All individuals, institutions, and property owners have been requested to clear the encroached land and remove structures within fifteen days. Should they fail to act within the prescribed timeline, the municipality will proceed with demolition.

If encroachments are removed within the stipulated period, the municipality will undertake necessary legal procedures. All costs related to the removal, demolition, or management of such structures will be recovered from the concerned individuals or organizations.
