Leader Bal Bahadur KC Voices Dissatisfaction Over Lack of Support for Loyal Party Workers

Leader Bal Bahadur KC of the Nepali Congress has expressed dissatisfaction with the party leadership, citing a lack of protection for loyal party workers within the organization. Reflecting on his 55-year-long political struggle, he emphasized that the Congress must never forget its history. Speaking on May 31 in Biratnagar, KC highlighted the current crisis in national politics and stressed the need for unity within Congress to face these challenges effectively.

Addressing events organized by various factions of the Congress in Biratnagar, KC seriously reviewed both his extensive political career and the party’s current situation. He stated that he has selflessly worked for over five and a half decades, upholding the principles and ideals of BP Koirala. Recalling the hardships he endured, KC said, “During the 1979 student movement, I was forcibly dragged around wearing a black cap, covered with a sack, and paraded with a garland of shoes. I spent seven years in prison, but I never deviated from the Congress’s principles.”

He voiced concern that party workers who made significant sacrifices during the party’s history and movements are not receiving adequate protection and respect today. Noting the serious crisis in national politics, he insisted that only a united Congress can successfully confront the challenges ahead. He added, “Congress, which led the movement to abolish the Rana regime, the Panchayat system, and even challenged the monarchy to establish democracy, would make a grave mistake if it forgets its history.” Observing a lack of honesty within the party, KC emphasized the need to act with integrity, beyond mere rhetoric, and to understand the sentiments of party workers. He concluded by urging both factions to come together and move forward in the interest of Congress unity.
