US and Iran Agree on Peace Accord; Signing Ceremony Scheduled in Switzerland This Friday

The United States and Iran have reached an agreement on a peace accord aimed at ending the war and lifting the blockade, with the signing ceremony set for June 19 in Switzerland. Following mediation by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the US President Donald Trump and Iran’s National Security Council have expressed consensus on the agreement. The pact is expected to end ongoing conflicts across all fronts including Lebanon, lift the blockade, and resume oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

US and Iranian officials stated on Sunday that they have agreed on a peace framework focused on ending hostilities, removing the US blockade on Iran, and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed this development, saying, “After intensive and continuous talks, we are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of a peace agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

The formal signing ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 19, in Switzerland. Sharif expressed gratitude to the leadership of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey for their significant roles and assistance in facilitating this mediation effort. President Trump also confirmed that a peace agreement with Iran has been finalized.

Following the accord, it is anticipated that oil shipments through the strategic maritime route, the Strait of Hormuz, will resume without obstruction, potentially leading to a decrease in fuel prices. The Middle East faced heightened tensions after attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran during the last week of February.
