12 Ashar, Kathmandu – The Madan Bhandari Foundation has decided to award the ‘Madan Bhandari National Award–2082’ this year to writer and researcher Ramesh Ruchen Rai. The foundation selected Rai’s research work titled Shwetshardul (The Life of Madan Bhandari) for the prize. The foundation annually confers this award to promote studies, research, publications, and ideological debates related to the personality, ideas, and political contributions of people’s leader Madankumar Bhandari.
According to the foundation, the award is presented on the occasion of the 75th birth anniversary of Madankumar Bhandari to individuals or organizations that have played a significant role in documenting and publicizing his personality, thoughts, political life, and contributions through study, research, memoir writing, or book publication. Following the recommendation of a three-member selection committee, Rai’s work was chosen for this year’s award.
A permanent resident of Kerabari, Sundarijal Municipality-11, Ilam, Rai has been an independent researcher and analyst actively engaged in Nepali politics, development, and contemporary issues for a long time. Along with a certificate of honor, Rai will receive a cash prize of NPR 200,000. The award ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Ashar 14, at 2 p.m. at the National Assembly Hall in Kathmandu.
