Baby and Mother Rescued from Rubble After Earthquakes in Venezuela

In Venezuela, a nine-month-old baby and her mother were rescued from the rubble following powerful earthquakes. Last week, two strong earthquakes shattered buildings across Venezuela, leading to numerous rescues from collapsed structures. Venezuela’s acting President, Delcy Rodríguez, reported that over the weekend, 33 individuals were found alive under the debris.

On Saturday, rescue teams retrieved the baby and her mother within 72 hours of the earthquake. The window between 48 to 72 hours after such a disaster is considered critical for saving lives. Both the nine-month-old infant and her mother sustained only minor injuries. Unfortunately, the devastating earthquakes have resulted in a death toll surpassing 1,450 as of Sunday, with thousands still unaccounted for.
