Tin Kune’s Matka Biryani Fined Rs 200,000 for Selling Expired Food Products
June 6, Kathmandu – The Department of Commerce, Supplies, and Consumer Protection has imposed fines totaling Rs 225,000 on three shops and firms engaged in practices detrimental to consumer interests during a market inspection. On Tuesday, the department conducted inspections of 13 industries and firms across the Kathmandu Valley.
The highest fine of Rs 200,000 was levied on Matka Biryani Cloud Kitchen located in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32, Tin Kune, after it was found selling expired food products.
Additionally, two other shops were penalized for failing to present purchase bills or invoices. Eleven Eleven Oyes at Ganeshsthan, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-7, was fined Rs 20,000, while Phuyal Food Store in Chabahil of the same ward was fined Rs 5,000.
The inspection team instructed T Nani Trading Company Pvt. Ltd., located in Sanepa, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-2, to appear at the department’s Babarmahal office within three days with relevant business registration certificates, PAN, purchase/sale bills and invoices, and tax clearance documents.
The remaining nine shops and companies inspected were given general guidance and released without penalty.
