Following an extended dispute, new developments have emerged within the Nepali Congress as former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba returned to Nepal on Thursday.

Leaders associated with the faction outside the establishment have indicated that Deuba will participate in the national gathering scheduled for Friday.

The Central Committee meeting of the Congress, formed after Deuba’s removal, expressed “a warm welcome and wished him full recovery.”

The meeting conveyed gratitude for Deuba’s contribution, acknowledging his “long struggle to establish rule and procedures in the party and the country,” and expressed expectations that he would play a guardian role.

The statement said, “It deeply respects his role in building the glorious history of the Congress and his leadership during the democratic movement. This meeting firmly believes that he will fulfill a paternal role as the former president.”
