
Kshitij Khanal and Prince Dahal of APF will face each other in the men’s singles final of the 14th Pushpalal Memorial National Senior Badminton Championship. Kshitij defeated Bishnu Kutwal, while Prince overcame Praful Maharjan in the semifinals to secure their spots in the final. In the women’s singles category, Rasila Maharjan and Shesna Shripali have advanced to the final.
On August 15, Kathmandu – APF players Kshitij Khanal and Prince Dahal will compete for the men’s singles title at the 14th Pushpalal Memorial National Senior Badminton Championship 2083. In the semifinals held on Saturday, Kshitij secured his place in the final by defeating Bishnu Kutwal of Peace Fitness Club with scores of 18–21, 21–7, 22–20. Despite losing the first set, Kshitij made a remarkable comeback to win the next two sets consecutively.
In the other semifinal match, top-seeded Prince Dahal defeated Praful Maharjan of Tribhuvan Army Club with scores of 22–24, 21–14, 21–12. Notably, Kshitij had previously beaten Prince in the group stage, giving Prince a chance to avenge his earlier loss in the final.
The tournament, organized by the National Badminton Association under the Nepal Sports Council, has Rasila Maharjan—ranked number one in Nepal’s women’s badminton—advancing to the final in the women’s singles category. In the semifinals, Rasila from Tribhuvan Army Club defeated Nita Lamsal of Nepal Police Club convincingly with 21–13, 21–13.
In the other women’s semifinal, Shesna Shripali of Nepal Police Club defeated APF’s Rehana Serchan 21–16, 21–18 to set up a final showdown against Rasila.
