The game, played at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, saw Arsenal take an early lead within just 23 seconds. Ricardo Calafiori moved the ball forward into the net from a pass by Myles Lewis-Skelly.
In the 28th minute, Kai Havertz doubled Arsenal’s lead with a header. New signing Christos Tzolis converted a cross by Martin Odegaard into a goal after Havertz initially made contact with the ball. Just three minutes into the second half, Arsenal scored their third goal. Odegaard skillfully bypassed City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, assisted by a pass from Tzolis.
Tzolis played a crucial role in the victory with two assists. The 24-year-old, who joined Arsenal this summer from Club Brugge for £34 million, had scored 17 goals and provided 23 assists for his Belgian club last season. Although City created some chances, they were unable to break down Arsenal’s defense. Near the end of the first half, Odegaard’s shot was cleared off the goal line by Josko Gvardiol. In the second half, Bukayo Saka also had a great opportunity but failed to score.
This victory marks Arsenal’s 18th overall Community Shield title. After winning the Premier League in recent months, the team has now added a second trophy to their cabinet. This year’s Community Shield was held in Cardiff, as Wembley Stadium was hosting The Weeknd’s ’After Hours Til Dawn’ tour.
