Aamir Akhtar and Nadim Shahid to Launch T10 Franchise League in Italy with Six Participating Teams

Former Nepalese cricketer Aamir Akhtar and England’s Nadim Shahid are set to organize a city-based franchise T10 cricket league in Italy. Supported by the Italian Cricket Federation, the competition will feature six franchise teams battling it out in Rome from November 7 to 15. Operated under Apex T10 Limited, this league aims to promote cricket development in associate nations and bring the game to new audiences. Kathmandu, August 18.
Aamir Akhtar and Nadim Shahid will host a city-based franchise T10 cricket league in Italy. The inaugural edition of “Italia T10 Cricket” will take place in Rome from November 7 to 15 under the official endorsement of the Italian Cricket Federation. Six city-based franchise teams will compete in the tournament, which will be conducted by Apex T10 Limited.
The company founded by Akhtar and Shahid is committed to furthering cricket development in associate member countries through T10 franchise competitions. The 10-over format, which concludes in approximately 90 minutes, is planned as a vital tool for reaching new cricket audiences. Matches in the league are set to be broadcast live across more than 30 countries.
Nadim Shahid, co-founder and CEO of Apex T10, boasts over two decades of first-class cricket experience in England and has represented the England ‘A’ team. Aamir Akhtar is a former Nepalese international cricketer who played a key role in developing franchise cricket in Nepal through the Everest Premier League. Leveraging this experience, the organizers aim to nurture local talent and elevate the standard of domestic cricket in Italy. The Italian Cricket Federation will provide official support and coordinate the approval process with the ICC. With cricket returning to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, this newly launched franchise league is viewed as an important step toward expanding cricket’s footprint in Italy.
