Yemen Government Claims Significant Progress in Ground Military Campaign Against Houthi Rebels

The Yemeni government has claimed notable progress in its ongoing ground military campaign against Houthi rebels. The announcement came amid discussions among officials focused on strengthening security preparations. According to the state news agency SABA, Prime Minister Shay Al-Jindani held a detailed meeting with ministers in Aden on Tuesday to discuss the military operations.
During the meeting, he directed efforts to accelerate security preparations, ensure the protection of critical infrastructure, and complete the readiness of areas being brought back under government control. He emphasized clarifying the campaign’s objectives and intensifying diplomatic initiatives to garner international support. Al-Jindani also highlighted the necessity of international cooperation to secure the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb maritime routes.
According to SABA, Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, received updates on the latest war developments from the defense minister and the military chief. He praised the ‘ground progress’ achieved by government forces and popular resistance fighters, advising residents in Houthi-held areas not to participate in the Houthi recruitment campaign. Furthermore, Houthi fighters have been urged to surrender their weapons.
Defense Minister Taher Al-Akili acknowledged the army’s accomplishments and instructed the continued implementation of approved military plans.
