Prime Minister Balendra Shah Discusses Regional Issues with Gandaki Province Lawmakers

Prime Minister Balendra Shah held discussions with members of parliament from Gandaki Province to address regional issues. The MPs raised concerns related to roads, embankments, tourism development, agriculture, healthcare, education, drinking water, and irrigation. The Prime Minister requested the MPs to submit these issues in writing and maintain regular contact through a WhatsApp group in coordination with the relevant ministries. (20 Chaitra, Kathmandu)
Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) met with Gandaki Province lawmakers to urge action towards resolving problems in their constituencies. As part of his ongoing engagement with directly elected provincial representatives, he held talks with Gandaki MPs on Friday. Manish Khanal, elected from Nawalpur-2, said, “We presented our local issues to the Prime Minister.” He highlighted the need for development work on the Butwal–Narayangadh road section, Daunne road, Triveni–Dumkibas road, embankments, Hulaki Highway, human-wildlife conflict mitigation, and tourism promotion.
Mahavir Pun, elected from Myagdi, expressed concerns regarding delays in projects scheduled for completion by the end of Ashar (mid-July) and requested facilitation to expedite them. He stated, “There are tasks to be completed by the end of Ashar; we need to accelerate progress in delayed areas.” The MPs also brought forward issues requiring both immediate and long-term solutions. Jhavilal Dumre from Syangja said, “We appealed to the Prime Minister to give special attention to our regional problems.”
Prime Minister Balen attentively listened to the concerns of all MPs, with the secretariat taking notes. Rajan Gautam, elected from Nawalpur-1, noted, “The Prime Minister advised that feasible projects must be implemented immediately, while those not currently viable should be postponed.” According to participating MPs, he emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts. He also requested that the issues be formally submitted to the Prime Minister’s office in writing. Manish Khanal added, “The Prime Minister instructed us to coordinate with the relevant ministries and to include all provincial MPs in a WhatsApp group for communication.” Previously, Prime Minister Balen has held similar consultations with MPs from other provinces as well.
