UML Secretary Bhattarai Comments on Raswapa’s Rising Strength and National Unity

March 21, Kathmandu – Dr. Rajan Bhattarai, Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), said that the reasons behind the ruling Rashtriya Swatantra Party’s (Raswapa) surge in strength have yet to be fully understood.
He made these remarks during an election assessment and foreign policy interaction held in Kathmandu on Saturday.
Also a foreign affairs expert, Secretary Bhattarai said, “This party has produced miraculous election results, but the reasons behind this phenomenon still need to be explored.”
He added, “We come from different political backgrounds and belong to various parties. A powerful party has emerged in a spectacular way; the factors related to this are yet to be researched thoroughly.”
Furthermore, he noted that the country’s geopolitical sensitivity has increased, and therefore political parties should not delay in working to establish national unity and moving forward together.
Secretary Bhattarai stressed the necessity of immediately initiating dialogue among political parties to build national unity and engage the public in discussions on foreign policy matters.
He stated, “Political maneuvering can occur within Nepal. Our geopolitical sensitivity is escalating. The first and foremost task now is to establish national unity. Internally, we can have competition and disputes, but efforts must be made to maintain national unity.”
Bhattarai further explained, “In this sensitive global environment, efforts to establish national unity should take place through internal dialogues. We may hold differing views, but despite this, national unity must be prioritized.”
