April 13, Kathmandu – CPN-UML MP Kshitiz Thebe highlighted the problems of Taplejung by presenting the Taplejung Diary in the House of Representatives. During Wednesday’s parliamentary session, he expressed heartfelt respect and gratitude towards the people of Taplejung while discussing the region’s hardships. He remarked, “We are confused about what actions to take and what to avoid.”
He pointed out that storms had blown away school roofs and houses, and hailstorms caused severe damage to crops, drawing serious attention to the people’s difficulties. “The public is facing distress and crisis. So far, no relief has been received,” he stated.
Thebe also addressed problems related to drinking water and irrigation, along with issues concerning farmers and laborers, youth unemployment, and the prevailing poverty among the people. “Inflation and price hikes continue unabated. There are countless challenges related to development and infrastructure,” he added.
Emphasizing infrastructure needs, he said, “Whether tied to trees, laid on roads, or kept in barns, roads must be constructed.” Addressing the Prime Minister directly, he said, “The Pathibhara road, which you traveled before the elections, remains unfinished even after 10 years. The Tamor Corridor route via Olangchungola to Tiptola border, the Yamphujin to Kanchenjunga Base Camp road, Madan Bhandari Road, Gufapokhari Road, and Chuwabhanjyang to Timbung Pokhari road – all these roads must be built by any means necessary.”
