June 30, Chitwan – Indra Bahadur Baniya, Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, has announced special prioritization and incentives for cooperatives focused on labor and production. Speaking at an event on Tuesday organized by the successful social entrepreneur women’s cooperative organization located in Bhateri, Ward No. 29, Bharatpur Metropolitan City, the Chief Minister informed that the provincial government has arranged production-oriented grants in sectors such as indigenous crops, ginger, garlic, turmeric, and onions.
“In the current budget, we have introduced a policy of one indigenous product and one collection center per municipality,” he stated. “Accordingly, the provincial government will provide special grants to municipalities that engage in processing, branding, and market management.” Chief Minister Baniya expressed his satisfaction with the women who proactively collected, processed, and branded 65 tons of turmeric produced by farmers without the influence of middlemen, successfully bringing it to market.
Following the budget approval, Chief Minister Baniya committed that the government will expedite processes within July to provide further grants and technical support to industries operated by such enterprising women. Highlighting increasing public fear and distrust due to misuse of funds in some cooperatives, he stated that organizations like the successful social entrepreneur women’s cooperative, which focus purely on production and honest work, help protect the dignity of the cooperative sector. – RSS
