June 24, Kathmandu – A severe storm and cyclone that struck the Hubei province in central China on Monday night has resulted in the deaths of at least 11 people and injured 331 others. Local officials have confirmed that one person remains missing due to this natural disaster.
According to local authorities, between 7 pm and 11 pm on Monday, powerful winds accompanied by thunderstorm activity swept through the eastern areas of Hubei, particularly affecting cities such as Huangshi, Huanggang, Ezhou, and Xianning. In some locations, wind speeds reached as high as level 13, and the cyclone was also reported.
The intense storm caused significant damage to physical infrastructure. Officials report that 22 buildings were completely destroyed, while 4,855 other houses and structures sustained varying degrees of damage.
Immediately following the event, the provincial government launched extensive search and rescue operations in the affected areas. Authorities have expedited medical treatment for the injured, efforts to mitigate further risks, disaster management, and the distribution of relief aid.
