
The devastating floods that struck in the month of Bhadra temporarily disrupted routine health check-ups and vaccination programs in the affected regions. Experts have warned that the risk of infectious disease outbreaks has increased as displaced individuals have been housed in temporary camps. However, the government has stated that there have been no interruptions to vaccination efforts in the impacted areas.
According to the Ministry of Health, various precautions have been implemented to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in these flood-affected zones. We conducted an interview with Dr. Abhiyan Gautam, Head of the Child Health and Vaccination Branch at the Health Services Department, to learn about the measures taken by the Ministry of Health and related agencies.
