April 13, Kathmandu – Three opposition parties boycotted the parliamentary session in protest after Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle began responding to questions raised on the policy and program on behalf of the Prime Minister. Members of Parliament from the Nepal Communist Party, Labour Culture Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) left the assembly hall and exited the session. Meanwhile, MPs from Nepali Congress and CPN-UML stood in protest while Finance Minister Wagle continued addressing the queries.
The opposition parties had demanded that Prime Minister Balendra Shah personally respond to the MPs’ questions during the policy and program discussion. However, Prime Minister Shah ultimately did not attend the session. Under these circumstances, Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal allotted Finance Minister Wagle time to answer on behalf of the Prime Minister amid the opposition’s disruptions.
