Abhijeet Deepke Accuses Delhi Police of Failing to Provide Basic Facilities to Fasting Sonam Wangchuk
Renowned educator Sonam Wangchuk is on a hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, protesting the leak of the NEET-UG medical entrance exam question paper. The Cakaroch Janata Party has warned that the strike will continue until Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. Abhijeet Deepke accused the Delhi Police of not providing Wangchuk with even the most basic necessities, including access to toilets.
Kathmandu, 15 Ashar — Sonam Wangchuk, a prominent educator and environmental activist from India, is staging a hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the leaked undergraduate medical exam question paper. Abhijeet Deepke, founder of the Cakaroch Janata Party (CJP), has accused the Delhi Police of denying Wangchuk essential minimum facilities during the protest.
On Sunday evening, Deepke posted a video on social media stating, “We have requested the police that Sonam Wangchuk is on hunger strike here, but the two public toilets nearby are extremely dirty. These areas have not been cleaned, and the water supply is cut off.” He questioned, “Why can’t a portable toilet be provided for Sonam Wangchuk? Why is the police denying permission? Why doesn’t the police allow the use of mobile toilets? What is this facility made for?”
Earlier, Deepke had accused the Delhi Police through various channels of providing no support to the demonstrators. The Cakaroch Janata Party holds the Education Minister responsible for the cheating and question paper leak in the prestigious NEET-UG exam and has warned that the hunger strike and protest will continue until the minister resigns.
