Cockroach Party’s X Account Banned in India After Surpassing 11.7 Million Followers

The Cockroach Janata Party’s X (formerly Twitter) account has been blocked in India just hours after surpassing 11.7 million followers on Instagram, overtaking the official account of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The party’s founder, Abhijeet Deepak, confirmed the account blockage in India, stating, “As expected, the Cockroach Janata Party’s account has been blocked in India.”

This satirical campaign emerged from youth frustration over controversial statements by Chief Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud and evolved into a digital movement focusing on issues such as unemployment, leaked exam papers, and institutional accountability. On 7th May in Kathmandu, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) crossed 11.7 million followers on Instagram, surpassing the BJP’s official Instagram account, which currently has approximately 8.7 million followers.

The X account of this satirical political movement was blocked in India on Thursday, further amplifying the meme-based campaign initiated by Jenzee. Abhijeet Deepak shared a screenshot confirming the account’s blockage in India. Reacting to the development, Deepak wrote, “As expected, the Cockroach Janata Party’s account has been blocked in India.”

This action came amid unprecedented growth of the Cockroach Janata Party across social media platforms. Having started as an online satire movement just days ago, the campaign quickly transformed into a major digital initiative driven by youth disgruntlement with unemployment, exam paper leaks, political rhetoric, and institutional non-responsiveness. Combining humor, memes, and political messaging, the movement rapidly amassed massive online participation.

The name “Cockroach Janata Party” itself arose as a satirical response to controversial remarks made by India’s Chief Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud during court proceedings last week. The Chief Justice referred to some unemployed youth and online activists as “cockroaches” and “parasites,” which triggered widespread outrage online.

MP Dr. Tosima Karki Urges Government to Immediately Formulate National Trauma Policy

Dr. Tosima Karki, Member of Parliament from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, has urged the government to promptly develop a National Trauma Policy to prevent road accidents. She emphasized the urgent need to address the suffering caused by the loss of many lives in traffic incidents by formulating and swiftly implementing this policy. Dr. Karki also highlighted that the government, while constructing roads, has failed both morally and policy-wise to protect its citizens from accidents.

May 20, Kathmandu – Speaking during the special session of the House of Representatives on Thursday, Dr. Tosima Karki called on the government to take immediate action in drafting a National Trauma Policy. She stressed that the policy must address the anguish caused by numerous fatalities due to road accidents and be implemented without delay.

“The state collects taxes and builds roads. Yet, an inability to safeguard its citizens from road accidents is not merely an administrative weakness but also a moral and policy failure of the state,” she said. “We are surprised about what previous governments have done, how they did it, and where the shortcomings exist. However, the Nepalese people have placed great hope in this government. Delays due to pending files or guidelines are no longer acceptable.”

She further added, “Building roads is feasible, but a government that cannot protect its citizens from accidents fails both morally and policy-wise. We need to tell the people of Nepal that while you received vaccinations against COVID-19, the government must also provide a policy-level vaccination against the unannounced epidemic of road accidents. We are ready to contribute. Therefore, I request that the government start formulating the National Trauma Policy immediately, which can prevent major accidents and save lives in the future.”

Cockroach Janata Party: New Political Force Rises on Instagram with Over 10 Million Followers in Five Days

Following Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant’s remark comparing certain youths to ‘cockroaches,’ the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ was founded and has since amassed over 11.7 million followers on its Instagram account. The party’s manifesto states that the Chief Justice will not be rewarded with a Rajya Sabha seat after retirement and declares that anyone tampering with votes will be arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Founder Abhijeet Deepke remarks, “This movement went viral within three days,” with young people demanding that traditional political shadows be avoided. Dated May 20, Kathmandu.

Chief Justice Surya Kant’s ‘cockroach’ analogy sparked widespread debate on social media. In response, the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ was established and rapidly gained popularity, boasting 11.7 million Instagram followers, a number that continues to rise. For comparison, India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has 8.7 million followers on Instagram, while the main opposition Congress Party holds 13.2 million followers.

The party was founded by Maharashtra-based Abhijeet Deepke. Its slogan reads: “Secular, Socialist, Democratic, Lazy.” On a single day, the party’s followers increased by more than 4 million. On May 15, while hearing a case, Chief Justice Surya Kant compared some unemployed youths to cockroaches. The party manifesto states, “If any legitimate vote is erased, the Chief Election Commissioner will be arrested under the UAPA, as that is no less than terrorism.”

Abhijeet Deepke explains, “While listening to the Chief Justice’s statement on X, where he compared youth critics of the system to cockroaches and parasites, I shared my views on social media. I received surprising responses from many Generation Z and under-25 youths. They said, ‘We need to unite and create a platform.’ Subsequently, I founded the CJP (Cockroach Janata Party).”

Mahaveer Pun: Developing Rockets Is Easier; No Effective Technology Yet to Reduce Monkey Menace

Independent MP Mahaveer Pun stated in a parliamentary session that taxing alone will not reduce the monkey menace and emphasized the need for research. He revealed that he has been trying for seven years to develop technology to mitigate the monkey problem but hasn’t succeeded. He also mentioned that the National Innovation Center has spent 5–6 million rupees on research and has requested local municipalities for additional support.

Kathmandu, 21 May — Independent MP Mahaveer Pun clarified during the House of Representatives meeting that imposing taxes alone will not solve the problem of monkey-induced disturbances. Speaking on Thursday, he shared his perspective and noted that despite working on this issue for seven years, no success has been achieved. He further explained that no scientist worldwide has been able to develop technology to reduce monkey interruptions, stating that making rockets is easier than inventing such a solution.

“You are raising the issue of monkey menace now, but I have been concerned about it since seven years ago. The National Innovation Center has invested 5–6 million rupees in related research,” he said, adding, “I have urged every rural municipality to raise one million rupees to enable thorough research in this area. This cannot be addressed through taxation alone in Parliament.”

Additionally, MP Pun stressed the necessity of allocating targeted funding to advance research on controlling the monkey menace. “Many parliamentarians have imposed taxes. Building rockets is easier and the technology is available. However, I have searched worldwide for technology to deter monkeys, and none exists. Adequate budget must be allocated for this research,” he emphasized.

MP Officer Urges Immediate Payment of Over 140 Million to Milk-Producing Farmers in Makwanpur

Member of Parliament Lima Officer Acharya of the National Independent Party has urged the government to establish a legal framework ensuring that farmers receive payment for their agricultural products within 15 days. She highlighted that over 140 million Nepalese rupees remain unpaid to milk-producing farmers in Makwanpur and expressed concern that youth across the country are forced to seek employment in Gulf countries due to delayed payments for their produce. Officer stated, ‘Not just grain but food self-sufficiency is essential, and without timely payments to farmers, prosperity in the country is impossible.’

On 7 Jestha in Kathmandu, MP Lima Officer Acharya appealed to the government during the zero hour session of the House of Representatives on Thursday to enact legal provisions guaranteeing immediate payment to farmers for their agricultural products. She demanded the establishment of a law mandating that farmers receive payment for their produce within 15 days. She said, ‘I urge the government to legally guarantee mandatory payment to farmers within 15 days.’

According to Officer, failure to pay for products such as milk, sugarcane, and rice compels young people to seek employment opportunities in Gulf countries. She added, ‘More than 140 million rupees in payments are pending to milk-producing farmers in Makwanpur alone. This is not just a Makwanpur issue, but a common situation for many farmers across the country producing sugarcane, milk, rice, and other products.’

She questioned, ‘When farmers have to wait months or even years to receive the value of their hard work, how do they manage to pay for cattle feed or their children’s school fees on time? Because of this, today’s energetic youth are forced to leave fertile lands barren and migrate to the Gulf deserts for employment. Emptying the farmers’ pockets makes national prosperity unattainable.’

Officer emphasized the need not only for grain production but also for food self-reliance in the country.

Beautification Project of Badki Pokhari in Musaili Stalled for Six Years

The beautification of Badki Pokhari located in Malangwa Municipality-7, Sarlahi, was initiated by the Madhesh Province government in the fiscal year 2076/77. A contract worth NPR 61,293,355 was signed in Ashwin 2077 (September/October 2020) for the project, yet only 23.58 percent of the work has been completed to date. Despite multiple deadline extensions, local residents have expressed dissatisfaction with the unfinished work and the performance of both the government and the construction company.

Badki Pokhari in Musaili has been a central place of religious faith, social gatherings, and events for local residents for many years. It becomes particularly crowded with devotees during the Chhath festival. When the Madhesh Province government launched the beautification plan under the ‘Chief Minister’s Cleanliness Campaign’ in fiscal year 2076/77, it generated considerable enthusiasm among the locals. However, nearly six years after the project started, the beautification remains incomplete.

The project has also impacted the income of the local school. The pond belongs to Shri Baudhidevi Janata Secondary School, which used to lease it annually for fish farming. Before the beautification began, the pond had been leased for five years at NPR 11.7 million. Principal Devendra Dubey stated that the school has been losing over NPR 2 million annually due to the halted leasing arrangement.

Isa Mikrani, Ward Chairperson of Malangwa Municipality-7, Musaili, has repeatedly raised these concerns with the relevant authorities but reports no response. He mentioned, “Our only remaining option now appears to be protests and hunger strikes.” Furthermore, the Infrastructure Development Office has indicated that the project deadline has been extended multiple times in contractual agreements with the construction company. Locals continue to express discontent with both the government bodies and the construction firm involved.

Trump Remarks: Netanyahu is Not Being Treated Fairly in Israel

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not being treated properly within Israel. Trump claimed that his popularity in Israel stands at 99 percent and mentioned that he could even run for the prime ministerial election there. He also said the war with Iran would end soon and that Iran is willing to negotiate. Furthermore, he clearly stated that the U.S. would not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons. Kathmandu, May 21.

Trump made these comments while discussing the rising tensions and potential military action between the United States and Iran during a conversation with journalists. When asked about discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu regarding a possible attack on Iran and future strategies, Trump replied that Netanyahu would act as per his guidance.

“He (Netanyahu) is a very good person. In my view, he is not being treated fairly in Israel. Currently, my popularity there is 99 percent. I could even run for the prime ministerial election there,” Trump said.

Trump reiterated his earlier claims that the conflict with Iran would soon end following detailed discussions with Netanyahu on the matter. “We are ending that war quickly. Iran is willing to make a deal. They are tired of this,” he stated. However, he made it clear that under no circumstances would the United States permit Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. According to reports, efforts are underway to reduce tensions and advance talks between the U.S. and Iran, while Israel continues to pursue a tough and aggressive approach against Iran.

How Do Birds Recognize Themselves?

The author shares the experience of spotting the 533rd lifer, a rare white-eyed gull, in the United States. The article highlights the breeding behavior in red-billed gulls, where males and females of different colors take turns protecting and caring for the nest. A study from Cambridge University is also mentioned, suggesting that birds may recognize their own reflection and show variations in song learning.

On Sunday morning, I woke up before fully opening my eyes and glanced at my phone. Aside from two or three important apps, I didn’t have many notifications. Among those active notifications was one from Group Me — a messaging app similar to Discord that many bird watchers use. Usually, Group Me doesn’t buzz with many messages unless a rare or unusual bird is spotted. Seeing the notification, I quickly checked and read “Garganey in southern Minnesota.” The garganey, known as the white-eyed teal in Nepali, is a bird found in Asia and Europe but is extremely rare and migratory in the United States. While I had previously seen the white-eyed teal at Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, this sighting would be a lifer for me in America.

At that time, my American lifer count stood at 532. Determined not to miss the 533rd, we traveled three hours to the location. By the time we arrived, it was midday. At the edge of a field, in a water pool, there were many ducks. We scanned carefully but didn’t see the white-eyed teal. The other ducks in the pool appeared similar from a distance. We waited, watching closely. After a while, a different flock of ducks landed there. I diligently scanned with my binoculars and spotted one that looked different from the rest—it was the white-eyed teal! The sought-after bird was finally found!
