Research Shows Nearly One-Third of New Website Content Generated by AI

An analysis of news summaries reveals that since 2022, approximately 35 percent of newly created website content has been generated by artificial intelligence. Researchers from Stanford University, Imperial College London, and the Internet Archive found that AI has transformed online writing styles into a more positive, concise, and effective format. The study indicates that AI has not increased the spread of false information but has reduced linguistic diversity, pushing the internet towards uniformity.

Following the public release of ChatGPT in late 2022, there has been a rapid transformation of the digital landscape. The research highlights that AI has enhanced online writing by making it more positive, polite, and capable of conveying much in fewer words. The study titled “The Impact of AI-Generated Text on the Internet” challenges the belief that AI is responsible for spreading misinformation online.

Tests conducted by fact-checkers found that AI did not cause a significant rise in false claims; however, there was a noticeable decrease in linguistic and stylistic diversity. Since many AI models tend to write in a similar, standardized style, human creativity and unique voices are diminishing, raising concerns that the internet may become increasingly homogenized, according to the study.

The research team collected website samples from August 2022 to May 2025 using the Wayback Machine and analyzed them with the assistance of the “Pangram v3” software. Researchers emphasize that the next major challenge is to develop AI as a partner in human creativity rather than allowing the internet to become solely uniform and machine-generated. Although based on results from a specific timeframe, the study outlines plans to continually monitor these trends in collaboration with the Internet Archive, developing tools to track ongoing changes.

Nepali Communist Party Objects to Attempt of Governing by Ordinance, Bypassing Parliament

The Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has expressed strong objection to the attempt to govern through ordinances after suspending the parliamentary session, calling it undemocratic and unacceptable. The NCP’s Coordination Committee meeting demanded an immediate parliamentary session and emphasized the need to include stakeholders’ perspectives and voices in the formulation of critical laws such as the Education Act and the Civil Service Act.

In a cabinet meeting held on Monday, the council decided to recommend two ordinances related to constitutional and cooperative matters to the President. Kathmandu, 15 Baisakh — The NCP completely rejects the attempt to suspend parliament and rule through ordinances, viewing it as a step against democracy.

‘Why Did a Government with Clear Majority Choose Ordinances Over Parliament?’

Rastriya Prajatantra Party chief coordinator Khushbu Oli has questioned the government on why it chose to proceed via ordinances, bypassing parliament, despite having a clear majority. The government has recommended to President Ramchandra Paudel the issuance of two ordinances related to cooperatives and the Constitutional Council. Oli stated that advancing such important matters through ordinances, circumventing parliament, is not a proper practice.

April 28, Kathmandu – Rastriya Prajatantra Party chief coordinator Khushbu Oli has demanded an explanation from the government about why it is resorting to ordinances, bypassing parliament, even though it holds a clear majority. The government has recommended to President Ramchandra Paudel the promulgation of two ordinances concerning cooperatives and the Constitutional Council. Raising concerns over this move, Oli urged the government to provide answers. “A government close to a two-thirds majority had called a parliamentary session for April 30. However, the very next day, a decision was made to postpone it. Today, there is information that two ordinances related to the Constitutional Council and cooperatives have been advanced,” she said.

“Proceeding through ordinances when parliament is active is a serious attack on parliamentary practice. Why would a government with a clear majority choose to bypass parliament by taking the ordinance route?” she questioned. She emphasized that navigating important institutions like the Constitutional Council and significant sectors directly impacting public life, such as cooperatives, through ordinances bypassing parliament, is an inappropriate practice. “It is not proper to advance crucial bodies like the Constitutional Council and sectors directly connected with citizens’ lives, like cooperatives, through ordinances circumventing parliament,” she remarked. “As part of the opposition, I strongly oppose such tendencies to render the parliament inactive and demand the empowerment of parliament.”

As part of these high-level visit preparations, it is reported that Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is scheduled to visit Kathmandu for a two-day trip toward the end of the month of Baisakh. Since the Prime Minister took office, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State responsible for South and Central Asian affairs has already visited Nepal. This week, Sergio Gor, the U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia and Ambassador to India, is also expected to arrive in Kathmandu. Despite the groundwork laid for these high-level visits, the Prime Minister has yet to publicly articulate a clear stance on his government’s foreign policy.

However, in a collective meeting with various ambassadors of countries operating in Nepal after assuming office, the Prime Minister briefly addressed the group and expressed a commitment to adopting a ‘balanced and pragmatic’ foreign policy. This week will see U.S. Special Envoy Sergio Gor visit Kathmandu, followed by Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s trip approximately two weeks later. Misri’s visit is widely interpreted as linked to Prime Minister Shah’s upcoming trip to India. Historically, Nepalese and Indian officials jointly announce such high-level visits, yet neither country has formally confirmed the exact dates of Indian Foreign Secretary Misri’s visit to date.
