Iran Issues Stern Response to Trump’s Ultimatum – ‘Will Retaliate Against All U.S.-Linked Energy Facilities in the Middle East’

News Summary

  • Trump warned Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz by 3:14 AM on March 24 or face destruction of Iranian energy facilities.
  • In response, Iran threatened retaliation against all energy infrastructures linked to the United States.
  • Iran’s blockade and attacks on vessels have caused a sharp increase in oil prices.

March 21, Kathmandu – Iran has issued a strong rebuttal to the United States’ warning to attack its nuclear facilities if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened within 48 hours.

Iran stated that any attack on its energy centers would be met with retaliation targeting all US-related energy infrastructure across the Middle East.

Earlier on Saturday, Trump commented that he had already achieved his military objectives ahead of schedule and emphasized issues he was unwilling to negotiate with Iran on.

Trump had given Iran a 48-hour ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz, threatening to destroy Iranian energy facilities if the strait remained closed. Iran responded with threats of retaliation.

Under normal circumstances, approximately 20 percent of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments pass through this waterway, making it critical to global energy supplies.

Trump’s ultimatum is set to expire at 3:14 AM Tehran time on March 24.

According to Iranian state media, in the event of an attack, energy centers associated with the United States in the Gulf region will be targeted.

Trump stated, “If Iran does not fully open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours exactly at this time, the United States will strike and destroy their largest energy facilities.”

Meanwhile, more than 100 people have been injured following Iran’s attack on the cities of Dimona and Arad in southern Israel. The attack reportedly targeted a nuclear facility located approximately 13 kilometers from the city of Dimona.

In response, Israel has warned of further retaliatory actions against its adversaries.

Simultaneously, the UAE has responded to Iran’s recent missile and drone attacks. Qatar’s Ministry of Defense reported that it is conducting a search for a helicopter that crashed off its coastline during a “routine duty” mission.

Iran’s blockade and attacks on vessels have contributed to a significant rise in oil prices over recent weeks.

  • With air services between Kuwait and Qatar disrupted, Nepalis stranded in transit are being sent via land routes to Saudi Arabia with valid visas.

March 21, Kathmandu – After Kuwait closed its airspace, 33 Nepalis stranded in transit have been dispatched to their destinations through Saudi Arabia. This transfer via land routes was facilitated by the Nepali Embassy in Kuwait.

Following the disruption of air travel, Nepalis who were stuck while en route to various countries via Kuwait were coordinated with the Nepali Embassy in Saudi Arabia and sent onward to their destinations, the embassy confirmed.

As air services to Saudi Arabia remain operational, this route has been utilized to ensure the travelers reach their final destinations.

Previously, 69 Nepalis stranded during transit in Kuwait were sent via land routes in cooperation with the Nepali Embassy in Riyadh.

With air services between Kuwait and Qatar both affected, the authorities are managing a two-step process whereby Nepalis stranded in transit are first transported by land to Saudi Arabia and then flown onward to their final destinations.

For this purpose, Nepalis in Kuwait and Qatar were requested to obtain Saudi transit visas. Affected travelers applied online for these visas and, upon approval, the embassy has been facilitating their onward transfer through Saudi Arabia.

President Donald Trump has indicated he is considering the possibility of halting US military operations in Iran.

He wrote on social media that the US is very close to achieving its objectives, but in conversations with journalists, he made it clear that “a ceasefire is not wanted.”

“You can only have a ceasefire after you have completely suppressed the other side,” Trump stated.

These mixed signals from Trump emerged following disclosures by CBS, the BBC’s US partner, that American military officials are preparing to deploy ground forces in Iran.

According to CBS, citing multiple sources, discussions are also underway about managing the custody of any Iranian soldiers captured.

US Military Claims to Have Weakened Iran’s Threat Capabilities in Strait of Hormuz

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has claimed that Iran’s ability to threaten ships in the Strait of Hormuz has been significantly diminished. CENTCOM stated that recent attacks have destroyed Iranian military strength in the Hormuz region.

CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper, in a video message shared on the social media platform X, explained that this week’s strikes destroyed underground facilities used for storing Iran’s cruise missiles and other weaponry.

He further stated that the attacks not only targeted weapons storage sites but also destroyed intelligence support centers monitoring ship movements and missile radar systems.

“This has weakened Iran’s capability to obstruct the free movement of vessels around the Hormuz region,” Cooper said in the message. “We will continue to target such facilities.”

In the video message, Cooper added that so far the US has struck over 8,000 Iranian military locations, including 130 Iranian naval vessels.

A major study reveals that synthetic hair extensions, used by millions of women globally, may pose risks including breast cancer, hormonal imbalances, and reproductive issues.

Experts report that nearly 50 different harmful chemicals have been found in various types of these hair products.

The synthetic hair industry worldwide is projected to exceed $1.4 billion by 2028.

Published in the American Chemical Society Journal, the study calls for strict regulations on this billion-dollar synthetic hair market and highlights the need for increased consumer awareness.

Lead author Alicia Franklin states, “Once applied, synthetic hair is worn for weeks or even longer, maintaining prolonged contact with the scalp, which may lead to long-term health risks.”

Pakistan Super League to Be Held Without Spectators, Limited to Two Cities

The Pakistan Super League 2026 will be held without spectators and restricted to just Lahore and Karachi. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated that if the situation improves, spectators might be allowed during the final stages. Due to increasing fuel shortages caused by the ongoing crisis, the PCB has announced refunds for ticket holders and compensation for franchise teams incurring losses.

Kathmandu, March 21 – The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 is set to proceed without any spectators this time. Considering the ongoing crisis in West Asia, the tournament will be limited to only Lahore and Karachi. Although plans initially included matches across six cities in the eastern region, security concerns and fuel shortages have led to a reduction in venues. Consequently, the proposed opening ceremony in Lahore has also been cancelled.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi explained, “If conditions improve, spectators may be permitted during the tournament’s final stages.” He also acknowledged that the duration of the crisis remains uncertain.

In the past, disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have caused fuel supply challenges, which have exacerbated Pakistan’s fuel shortage. The government has urged citizens to reduce travel, closed schools, promoted work-from-home policies, and extended holiday periods. Given these circumstances, the PCB deemed it appropriate to conduct the tournament behind closed doors.

Furthermore, the PCB has committed to refunding ticket holders and compensating franchise teams for their losses. There is also a promise to expand the tournament to cities that will not host matches this year in the next season.

Notably, Nepalese cricketer Dipendra Singh Airee will be participating in the PSL, representing Islamabad United.
